A New Pentecost
On June 7, at Old St.
Marys Church, Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E.
Pilarczyk will celebrate the annual commitment Mass for
the Fathers of Pentecost. He will receive the final
promises from Old St. Marys pastor, Father Al
Lauer, as well as Father David Kennedy. He will also pray
for the Lay People of Pentecost and for those beginning
the first ever novitiate for the Fathers and Brothers of
Pentecost.
Dennis Dooley from
Evansville, Ind., along with Kevin Wartman from Ludlow,
Ky., are both discerning the Brothers of Pentecost. Two
others, Roger Kunkel and Dan Hunt, both of Cincinnati,
are entering into the discernment process for the Fathers
of Pentecost. David ODonnell and Glen Szezechowski
continue their training for the priesthood as members of
the Fathers of Pentecost (FP).
The FP are an association
of priests and seminarians. These men are forming a
religious community of priests to live in "prophetic
poverty" for the purpose of cross-cultural
evangelization in North America, e.g. native peoples,
immigrant Hispanics, urban blacks and rural Appalachians.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the
association. She looked and dressed like an American
Indian, but she crushed beneath her feet the false Gods
of the Aztecs. Please pray for the Fathers and Brothers
of Pentecost, and attend the Archbishops Mass on
June 7, 2000.
