Shepherds of Old St. Mary’s

Rev. Paul C. Cornwell, 1914-1984
Eleventh Pastor, 1959-1962

Born August 5, 1914, Father Cornwell was ordained June 7, 1914. After his ordination, he was assigned to Holy Family Parish in Dayton briefly before being assigned to St. Veronica in Hamilton, Ohio. During his tenure there, he taught at Hamilton Catholic High School. He then moved to St. Aloysius Church on the West Side of Cincinnati where he also taught at Elder High School. He served three years as pastor of Old St. Mary's before being assigned to Holy Trinity Chruch in Middletown. He retired in 1973 due to poor health and died December 6, 1984. He was buried in St. Bernard Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio.
