Laudetur Jesus Christus! Gelobt sei Jesus Christus!
Sia lodato Gesù Cristo! Praised be Jesus Christ!

Next Sunday we celebrate the great Feast of Pentecost, the second most important feast in the Church following Easter Sunday. This is the day in which the Church was born, and the Holy Spirit was sent upon the Apostles for them to go out and save the world.

Below is an image with the list of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is important that we pray for these gifts every day. For Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. These gifts are outpoured on us, in a particular way in our Confirmation, so that we may live well the Christian life.

The Christian life is not easy; it was never meant to be easy. It demands things of us. It demands that we die to our own will, that we mortify our intellect, that we do penance to our body, that we give reverence to God, that we bravely face a world that has never understood Christ. We do not always understand the Christian life; sometimes we even try to have our own view and vision of it. However, the Holy Spirit is there to guide us to the harbor of all truth, goodness, and unity.

The Christian life is, if we practice these gifts well, a blessing, and a relief for us. Because we know that we do not have to have all the answers, know how always to act, or be alone in this journey toward Heaven. The Church is there to guide us and lead us if we allow her to do so. If we do not fight her. If we do not abandon her.

May we pray every day to have these graces. We so often take the graces of God for granted, believing that we deserve them, that we do not need to ask for them, that we already have them. But God demands that we be humble, just as He is. He is generous with those who are humble and who ask. May our prayer every day be that we become saints. Saints that God needs very much in the world, saints that God created us to be. Find this prayer below for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Have a blessed week ahead!

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit on Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You  and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord with the sign of Your true disciples, and animate me in all things with Your Spirit. Amen.
